Discussion:

TAB funds on hand are $200.16 after buying snacks for the meeting.

TAB will still be hosting a table in the library on the 100th anniversary.  Please contact Leslie to let her know if you are available to be at the table for a certain time.

Members are invited to participate in the summer reading program.  This program will begin on June 17 and end on July 26.  The gatherings will be held on Tuesday and Thursday at 1:00.  Participants will do activities, watch movies, hold discussions, and be rewarded for their reading.  You can pick up an information packet and permission form in the library.

A few of the members are interested in learning how to knit.  For more information, contact Leslie or Addison.

Members agreed we should not attend the Somerfest parade this year because of everyone’s busy schedules.

Leslie is going to talk to the board about setting up a booth at Mountain Craft Days.

The YA collection request for this month was Teen Angst? Naaah…  by Ned Vizzini.

Any TAB members and friends are welcome to go to see The Fault in Our Stars on Saturday.  There will be a book discussion afterwards at Sweet Frog.  Leslie will email everyone about the specific time and details soon.

TAB will also be hosting a booth at Somerstock with board game tournaments.  Any members that are available during that time should help out.

Discussion:

  • The Arts Committee made a poster for the 100th anniversary of the library.  It will be displayed at the TAB table on Saturday, June 14th.  On the anniversary, there will be refreshments, activities and various other info tables.
  • The current TAB funds are $212.86.  After expenses and donations, the Coffeehouse cost $30.34.
  • We are thinking about hosting more coffeehouses/parties at the library.  One of our ideas was to have a “Back to School” coffeehouse, before the start of the school year or one between sports’ seasons  There would possibly be ice cream.  We also thought a Christmas-themed party would be fun.  It would include things like peppermint tea, ugly sweaters, hot chocolate, cookies, etc.
  • Our previous coffeehouse was successful!  The price for the coffee, however, was not lower than Starbucks would have been.  In the future we will decide if we want to switch to a different seller or simply brew it ourselves.
  • We may be going to see The Fault in our Stars as a TAB group.  Everyone should read the book prior to the outing so we can go to Sweet Frog afterwards for a book discussion.
  • We would still like to participate in the Somerfest parade and dress up as book characters to hand out candy.  The date is Friday, July 18th.  All members should bring a bag of candy on that day.
  • We will also be getting a banner for the parade to share with the library.
  • A TAB quote wall is underway.  It will be hung up downstairs, and have funny or interesting quotes from TAB members.
  • We are having a party for members on Saturday, June 7th after the meeting.  There will be games, food and fun!
  • The YA Collection request for this month was Hollow City by Ransom Riggs.
  • The library is going to have a book sale on May 15-17.
  • The next TAB meeting will be Saturday, June 7 at 1:00.

Duties:

  • Sam and Addison will be asking Mrs. Pile about Somerstock and finding out if we can get involved.
  • Rachel is bringing her xbox kinect to the party on the 7th.
  • Henny will be asking Molly’s ice cream if they would help us with our back to school event.  She will also ask about the movie theater in regards to seeing The Fault in our Stars.
  • All members should let Leslie know what character they would like to be in the parade.
  • All members should bring something to the party. (Food, games, crafts, etc.)

  • As we take on projects, it is important that committees work together.  Committees should be communicating outside of TAB meetings to get projects accomplished.  Leslie will be sending an updated list of everyone’s email so all the members will have it.
  • The coffee house was approved at the board meeting.  It will be held on Friday, April 25 from 7:00 to 9:00.  The Somerset jazz band will be performing.  If you know anyone with a talent, invite them over for coffee and entertainment!
  • All TAB members must bring a baked good or fruit tray to the coffee house.  Please respond in a group email to tell what you will be bringing so we will not have duplicates.
  • Because there wouldn’t have been another meeting prior to the coffee house, an additional meeting will be held on Thursday, April 17 immediately after school.  The start time will be no later than 3:30.
  • TAB will be participating in the Somerfest parade.  The date will either be Saturday, July 12 or Saturday, July 19.  Members should think about a book character they would like to be for the event.
